Mark Liedl

Lead Systems Engineer

Mark began his career with ABS in 2001 and is a Lead Systems Engineer. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science and later earned a Master of Science in Education in 1998 from Old Dominion University.

He provides support to ABS customers for servers and workstations, Microsoft and PC-based software and document imaging. He excels in Microsoft operating systems and software, Microsoft server administration/Active Directory, and PC and document scanner hardware. In addition to the services he provides those outside of ABS, he also provides a calming influence to the often chaotic Customer Service group.

Away from ABS Mark enjoys golf, softball, gardening, playing the piano poorly, and rooting for the New York Mets, Giants, and Rangers. He is a big fan of baseball and the comedy of the Marx Brothers, Abbott and Costello, and Jack Benny.

Describe yourself in three words.
Considerate, patient, perfectionistic (yes, that is a real word – I looked it up).

Mac or PC?
PC, but I love my iPad and iPod

On Saturday where can we find you?
Usually catching up on chores around the house – Sundays are usually more fun.

Most recent traveling experience.
I’ve taken a winter golf trip with three buddies almost every year since 1988;  one of them has retired to Florida, so now we take over his house for four days and play for a trophy made out of a Heinz ketchup bottle.

Favorite food?
Give me some real Polish food – a couple of pierogi fried with onions and a link of smoked kielbasa with the four-alarm horseradish my Dad makes every Easter.

Favorite quote?
“Put it in the books!” – Radio broadcaster Howie Rose after the final out of every Mets’ victory.

Favorite book?
I used to really enjoy the “Harry Potter” series, but I’ve heard them on CD so many times on car trips with the kids that I’m now totally sick of them (at least they still keep the kids quiet).

Favorite musical artist?
My first stadium concert was in 1985 – Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in Giants Stadium…what a mistake – every other show I’ve seen since then has paled in comparison.

Can you sing?
Define “sing”.

What do you like most about working at ABS?
Even with as much as the company has grown in the last ten years, the bosses still somehow manage to maintain a family atmosphere.
